Presented in Anthracite coachwork with Milano Tan hide and matching carpets bound in leather. A Milano Tan top roll, Burr walnut woodwork, the hood is trimmed in mohair with the correct wool headlining and leather hood bag trimmed to match the main hide. 14 inch steel pressed road wheels with polished stainless steel wheel trims and center caps colour coded to the body. All chrome work is gleaming and finishes off the look of this timeless classic.
50 years after the 3.5 was first unveiled to the world in August 1969 it has the same importance today as did then. This example being 71 car makes it one of the last cars built before production was stopped at the Sindelfingen works.
Benefitting from a host of non-standard options which included floor change automatic gearbox, BEHL air conditioning, Becker Mexico entertainment with Hirschmann electric aerial, electric windows and head restraints – top of the line.
In 2010 our 3.5 was sourced by its most recent owner, a UK collector who acquired the car from its last Stateside owner. The car had resided at the glamorous address of Chase Avenue, Miami Beach prior to its UK arrival. The former owner had brought the car in 1992 and had kept it for over 30 years.
This car has benefitted from a host of works which included the following items;
- Fuel injection system overhauled
- Front and rear dampers replaced
- Front subframe restored with all new mounts – bushes and all fittings
- Prop shaft coupling
- Steering damper and coupling
- Full stainless steel exhaust
- All chrome work removed and fully rechromed
- Brakes calipers removed and rebuilt
- New brake hoses
- Radiator oil cooler and AC condenser all sent away to SERCK motorsport for testing and cleaning
- All road wheel refurbished and new tyres fitted to just name a few items from 4 pages of work carried out
Upon viewing this car will not disappoint, the panel fitment is mm perfect and better than the day it rolled off the factory line. The Burr Walnut woodwork is flawless and radiates throughout the cabin. The hood fits correctly up and around the windscreen and fits the frame correctly which is hugely important on this series of car. The wool headlining and outer mohair are beautiful. The main hide shows no sign of wear throughout and in particular to the edges of the piping on the driver's seat .
