The V12 was the end of a long line of E-Type models, and the announcement of the Series III in March 1971 was a controversial swan song. The new V12 was a sensation as at the time only a few hand built ‘super cars’ such as Ferrari were offering 12 Cylinders. Some elements of the media complained that it was nothing more than a desperate last gasp from an outdated model, but that was until they drove the car! Despite these initial concerns, the Series III sold well.
