After the sale of Aston Martin to ‘Company Developments’ in January, 1972, work started on a comprehensive facelift of the DBSV8, the main visual cue being the adoption of single headlamps and a revised front grille. Now known as the AMV8, the car retained the Bosch mechanical fuel injection system until August 1973, when four twin choke Weber carburettors were fitted, together with updates to the interior trim, a bigger bonnet bulge to clear the carburettor air box and a re-designed fuel tank to allow more luggage space. With the departure of Sir David Brown, the new owners had to establish a different identity and made their first move in dropping the “DB” branding. Only 2360 AMV8’s were manufactured between 1972 and 1989.
Finished in Suffolk Red with Parchment hide & matching Wilton carpets.
The 5.3 litre, V8 engine provides incredible power and our AM V8 is equipped with the highly rated original Chrysler automatic transmission which provides smooth gear changes and a wonderful driving experience in all situations.
Beautifully presented throughout with correct Avon Radial tyres, this vehicle has spent a large part of its life in a private collection in New Zealand. Here is a highly original example that will simply bring delight to its new owner.
The Aston Martin is available for viewing at the DD Classics Dealership in London, please call to book an appointment.
